VEHICLE CROSSOVER

The Council can lower kerbs and strengthen the footway in front of residential properties to allow residents to park their vehicles within their own property, charges vary.

Advice and assistance on easing pedestrian access where kerbs or crossings may be difficult, particularly for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs is available via the number below.

VENUE

Venue is the quarterly newsletter for the Halls & Events Team. It contains information on festivals, community shows and other activities taking place in Ealing's halls and parks. Ring the number below and leave your name and address to go on the mailing list.

VIDEO TAPES

A selection of video tapes is available for hire from Central, Southall, Acton, West Ealing, Greenford and Northolt libraries. The collections include feature films and instructional/educational videos on popular subjects. Hire charges and details of loan arrangements are available from libraries. Junior videos are available at all libraries.

VISUAL IMPAIRMENT

The council employs a small team of specially trained rehabilitation officers to help newly visually impaired people to cope with everyday difficulties. This service includes teaching of practical skills for daily living, touch reading, communication skills, and instruction in mobility and orientation techniques. The team is also available for advice and consultation on any matter concerned with visual loss. For information contact number below.

VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS

The council supports and works closely with voluntary organisations offering various services to the public including information and advice. Details of voluntary agencies and their responsibilities can be obtained from libraries.

VOLUNTARY SECTOR TRANSPORT

There are a number of council vehicles (such as mini-buses and ramp ambulances) which are available to certain voluntary organisations on a short-term basis. Contact BRETS Transport. Ealing Community Transport hires mini-buses to community groups and runs PlusBus, a service for people who have difficulty using public transport due to illness, disability or age. VOLUNTARY-AIDED SCHOOLS
