The family centres provides community assessment and treatment programmes for families and children in need where family breakdown is imminent. Contact your Social Services Area Commissioning Team.

FIRE PRECAUTIONS

For advice on means of escape in case of fire from residential care homes, night cafes, flats and maisonettes (not houses in multiple occupation), contact the Environmental Health Division as below. FLYTIPPING

Flytipping is the illegal dumping of litter, refuse sacks, rubbish, rubble, soil etc on the public highway, in Council car parks or at recycling sites Anyone caught fly-tipping waste will be subject to a hefty fine, court proceedings and a possible prison sentence.

Remember, if you see anyone flytipping, take down their vehicle number, record the time and date of the incident and immediately contact the Environment Group Call Centre: 020 8832 6464.

FOOD HYGIENE AND COMPLAINTS

Environmental Health and Consumer Services can offer advice and information about the legal aspects of food production and distribution and the registration of food businesses. They also enforce laws on hygiene standards in restaurants, warehouses and food factories and food composition and labelling. If you have a complaint about food or drink that you have bought or seen on sale in the borough, telephone the Environmental Health and Consumer Services Division.

Environmental Health is responsible for the control of outbreaks of food poisoning and communicable diseases in Ealing in conjunction with the Ealing Health Authority's consultant in Communicable Disease Control. Contact below.

FOOTPATH/CROSSOVER CROSSINGS

The Council can lower kerbs and strengthen the footway in front of residential properties to allow residents to park their vehicles within their own property, charges vary.

Advice and assistance on easing pedestrian access where kerbs or crossings may be difficult, particularly for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs is available via the number below.

FOSTERING

When children and young people are unable to live with their own families due to family difficulties, the council can provide local foster carers to look after them either on a temporary or longer term basis. In all cases the council will aim to meet the children and young people’s range of needs which include physical, emotional cultural and religious needs.

The Council always needs new foster carers to look after children and young people of all ages up to 18 years. If you would like information contact :

The council is responsible for the maintenance of adopted footways and footpaths in the borough. Defects to these and other highways can be reported to Parkman.
